Burning Ambition lights a fire for football football fans 100 years later

The second of our books for May is released today in good bookstores and elsewhere - Burning Ambition - The Centenary of Australia-New Zealand Football Ashes by Nick Guoth and Trevor Thompson.

It is written to commemorate the first international football series played between Australia and New Zealand that began on 17 June 1922. The first series was followed a year later by return matches in Australia. Both series were met with big crowds, kicking off a decade of cosmopolitan action for both teams.

Burning Ambition traces the genesis of the first national teams of both countries, recounts the inaugural three 'Tests', examines the obstacles to making the series happen, and the efforts of dreamers and toilers in both countries to make international football a reality. The burning ambition of these people never died.

We care deeply about this book, because we care deeply about our national teams. Do yourself a favour and have a read, and be inspired by the pioneering efforts of people from both nations.

Buy it in all good bookstores or direct from us.
