February has flown! Partly because it's just 28 days, and also because so much has been happening.
The book that lifts the lid on the 'FIFA Way' from the inside, Whatever It Takes - the Inside Story of the FIFA Way, by Bonita Mersiades was launched in London towards the end of January, with Lord David Triesman (former England FA Chairman) and Damian Collins MP doing the honours. UTS also kindly hosted a Sydney launch via A/Professor Daryl Adair with FOX Sports' Simon Hill the keynote speaker.
Since then, the credits have rolled-in for Bonita's book which - even if you don't really know much about football politics - is a rollicking read about some of the characters in world football, not just Australia. Whatever It Takes is published by Powderhouse Press in the USA but is available via us and Amazon (and good book stores) also.
We're delighted that Andrew Howe's Encyclopedia of Socceroos has been 'put to bed' - in other words gone to print. It is truly magnificent.Thank you to all who ordered a limited number Souvenir Edition, as well as a Supporters Edition. The Encyclopedia is 376 pages, 200,000 words, with photos, tables, biographical detail, four feature articles on the World Cup captains by Ray Gatt, and some marvellous appendices including some new material never seen before. You can order the Encyclopedia now. It's $65 for a hardback with dust cover, or $58.50 for anyone who has played for the Socceroos.
Some more exciting news related to the Encyclopedia in the next month or so.
Finally also, we can reveal the stunning cover of Jorge Knijnik's book, The World Cup Chronicles - 31 Days that Rocked Brazil. Take a look at it here. Jorge's book is an entertaining and informative read that looks at the 2014 World Cup from a unique 'inside-outside' perspective via Jorge who is a Brazilian expat living and working in Sydney. We'll start taking orders closer to the release date.
Until next time!
Too busy for just 28 days!
