Introducing the Manly Writers' Festival

Introducing the Manly Writers' Festival

We have another exciting project underway with another writers' festival to be held in March 2024. This time it is not football specific, but a more general literary festival based in Manly (Sydney), proudly supported by the Northern Beaches Council.

Manly is a destination point in Sydney that is best known for the beach and the ferry, but there is an active cultural component with many high-profile and hidden gem authors and writers.

We especially want to give writers who are not-so-well known - which includes some of our own authors - an opportunity to talk about their work, as well as discuss big and small issues of interest to the community.

Amongst the high profile guests is one of Australia's best and most beloved writers - in fact he's officially an Australian Living Treasure - Thomas Keneally AO who will headline the Manly Writers' Festival with An Evening with Thomas Keneally. Tom has won the Booker Prize for Schindler's Ark, the highest honour in world literature, and is a four-time winner of Australia's Miles Franklin Award. His most recent books include a novel, Fanatic Hart, and a memoir entitled A Bloody Good Rant: My Passions, Memories and Demons

Another guest will be Nick McKenzie, multiple award-winning investigative journalist and author, who earlier this year released his book on the Ben Roberts-Smith investigation, Crossing the Line - the Inside Story of Murder, Lies and a Fallen Hero.

We are currently putting the program together and will announce more speakers and guests in coming months. Some of our football and general books will also be featured, including some exciting new titles (non-fiction and fiction) in the early part of next year. There will also be children's and schools' programs.

If you want to keep up-to-date about the Manly Writers' Festival, please head to the website and sign-up for our e-newsletter.
