100 Years of Football at Wynnum by Vicky Krayem is a delightful read about the first 100 years of an authentic community club, Wynnum Wolves FC, often referred to as one of the 'perennial battlers' of Brisbane football competitions.
Despite that, Wynnum has endured name revisions, colour changes, home ground changes, floods, relegation, promotion, petty officialdom and more. It has some big name alumni (think: Clare Polkinghorne) and many lesser known people who have helped make the club what it is today - a genuine football village. The type that reminds us all of what football is really about.
'Soccer mum', volunteer and journalist Vicky Krayem has put together a book to cherish for anyone who has ever been part of Wynnum Wolves, Brisbane, Queensland or Australian football, or who just likes to look at the pictures and learn from the words about a little part of local Australian history.
Wynnum Wolves is hosting a launch at Majestic Cinema in Berrima Road, Wynnum on Wednesday December 15th from 6.30pm - 8.30pm.
